Adult ASD Assessment

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that can affect communication, social interaction, sensory processing and day-to-day functioning. Many adults seek an assessment later in life after recognising long-standing patterns or challenges that were previously misunderstood, misdiagnosed, or masked.

Our Adult ASD assessments are carried out using the Adult ASD Assessment (AAA), a structured and evidence-based diagnostic tool designed specifically for adults. The appointment is conducted face-to-face (or virtually if required) and focuses on understanding how autistic traits may have presented across different stages of your life.

During your assessment we will:

  • Explore your developmental history, including childhood behaviour, relationships and learning experiences
  • Discuss your current strengths and challenges in areas such as communication, sensory sensitivities, routines, and emotional regulation
  • Review any previous assessments, diagnoses or mental health history
  • Consider how ASD traits impact your daily life, work, relationships and wellbeing
  • Identify whether your experiences align with ASD criteria under recognised diagnostic frameworks

Where possible, we encourage you to bring someone who knows you well – ideally someone familiar with your early development or long-term behaviour patterns. If that is not practical, they may complete a supporting questionnaire for you to bring along.

The full assessment typically lasts up to 90 minutes, allowing time for discussion, questions, and clarification. After the appointment, you will receive clear feedback about the outcome of the assessment, guidance on next steps, and information on any additional support or treatment options available.
